Protein

What is Whey Protein Powder?

Whey Protein is a type of protein that is derived from cow’s milk. Milk contains several nutrients such as water, carbohydrates, various vitamins, and whey, which is the watery substance that is left after being curdled and strained during the process of making cheese. This liquid is then dried and made into powder! Whey contains all 9 essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), making this the perfect supplement for maximum gains.

What are the benefits of Whey Protein?

  • It is vital for increasing muscle mass
  • It helps prevent muscle mass loss due to ageing
  • It helps in regulating blood sugar levels
  • It aids in weight loss, helping you to reach your goals quicker

When is the best time to drink my Iso-Prime Whey Protein shake?

You can consume protein shakes at any point during the day to increase your daily protein intake! When you do high intensity weight training, your muscle fibres are actually sustaining small micro-tears and your body uses protein to repair and replace the damaged fibres with more muscle, which increases the mass and size of your muscles. In order to boost the recovery process post-workout, your body naturally craves protein around 15-30 minutes after your workout. So for maximum results and quick recovery, it’s best to consume your Iso-Prime Protein shake straight after your workout!

How much protein do I need daily?

There is no ‘one size fits all’ answer for this! Everyone is different when it comes to protein intake, and this depends on your body weight, your training goals, and training frequency/intensity.

For those training with the goal of gaining lean muscle mass, the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) recommends consuming between 1.4g to 2g protein per kilogram of bodyweight. Please be advised that this amount is recommended for a healthy individual with no health issues. Please confirm with your doctor before starting a high-protein diet.

Why is impact Supplements Iso-Prime 100% Whey Protein the best protein for me?

Our whey protein is of the highest quality and is derived from grass-fed cows. It contains 26.1g protein with only 103 calories per serve. Iso-Prime is gluten-free, and contains next to no sugar, fats, lactose or nasties such as different gums & fillers which cause bloating. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention the delicious flavours that are second to none!

Pre Workout

What is Pre-Workout and what does it do?

Pre-Workout is a supplement that comes in the form of a powder that is taken before a workout to help increase your energy, power and endurance during your workout. Pre-Workout gives you the ability to train harder, for longer, and ultimately helps you maximise your training sessions.

What is the best time to take Pre-Workout and how long does it last?

It’s recommended you take your pre-workout about 20-30 mins prior to your training session, however everybody is different and has different rates at which we absorb ingredients, so for some people, this might mean taking it even up to an hour before a training session. Once the pre-workout starts to take effect, it’ll last for about 60-90 minutes or even up to 2 hours in some cases.

I noticed Impact Supplements has a stim free Pre available, and heard they're releasing a stim one. What's the difference?

Our Pre-Workout range consists of two types of pre-workout: SwoleAF (our stimulant-free formula), and our new to come stimulant Pre-Workout.

SwoleAF contains no caffeine, so you can maximise your training session without getting the jitters that a regular pre-workout gives whereas our soon to come Pre, being a high-stimulant Pre-Workout supplement, contains caffeine that gives you an intense energy boost.

Does Pre-Workout Cause Anxiety?

Pre-Workout shouldn’t cause any anxiety, however a high-stimulant pre-workout contains caffeine and will increase your heart rate and trigger the release of adrenaline, so if you are a person that suffers from anxiety, it’s possible that pre-workout may affect you and we recommend consulting with your doctor before consuming any pre-workout supplement.

A great option would be to try our SwoleAF Non-Stimulant Pre-Workout, which is a caffeine-free formula that gives you the same benefits of a high-stimulant pre-workout without that jittery feeling

Why is Impact Supplements Pre-Workout range best for me?

Our pre-workout range contains a mix of scientifically-proven ingredients that increase energy, blood-flow, vasodilation, muscular endurance, and reduce muscle fatigue. Click here to check our full ingredient glossary.

Creatine

What is Creatine and what does it do?

Creatine is a substance that our body naturally produces. It’s a type of amino acid, which are the building blocks of protein found in our muscle cells. Creatine improves performance in the gym by:

  • Increasing muscle mass
  • Aiding in muscle recovery
  • Helps muscle cells produce more energy
  • Improving exercise performance
  • Gives the ability to train at a higher intensity

How do I take Creatine and when is the best time to take it?

The best time to take Creatine is about 30 minutes prior to your training session as it optimises your creatine stores before a session, allowing you to train harder without fatiguing. Creatine can also be taken again after a gym session as it increases muscle mass when combined with resistance training.

You can take Creatine alone, or combine it with your pre-workout to maximise performance in the gym. Creatine needs to be taken consistently for the best results, and you’ll start noticing a difference within 2-4 weeks of taking it.

Is Creatine Safe?

Creatine is naturally found in your body and is safe to take as a supplement. This is backed by a multitude of studies and is shown to have positive long-term effects when taken consistently.

Is Creatine the same as Pre-Workout?

Creatine is not the same as a pre-workout, however Creatine and Pre-Workout can be combined to fuel your energy stores and maximise training, and also aid in post-workout recovery.

AMINO ACIDS: BCAAs & EAAs

What are amino acids and what do they do?

Amino Acids are essentially the building blocks of protein, and they play a vital role in building proteins, hormones, and neurotransmitters. Benefits include muscle growth and repair, improved endurance, reduced fatigue, enhanced immune function, and better absorption of protein.

Our bodies require 20 amino acids to function in an effective way, however only 9 of these are considered essential. They include: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.

Essential amino acids cannot be produced by the human body, therefore we need to obtain them through diet. The best source of essential amino acids is through animal proteins, such as meat, poultry, and eggs.

What is the difference between BCAAs and EAAs?

EEAs are the 9 essential amino acids, and within these includes 3 BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) which are branched-chain amino acids. All BCAAs are EAAs, but not all EAAs are BCAAs.The difference? BCAAs have slightly different molecular structure, causing BCAAs to break down in the muscles rather than the liver (where the EAAs are broken down).
