FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Whey Protein Powder and what are the benefits?

Whey Protein is a type of protein that is derived from cow’s milk. Milk contains several nutrients such as water, carbohydrates, various vitamins, and whey, which is the watery substance that is left after being curdled and strained during the process of making cheese. This liquid is then dried and made into powder! Whey contains all 9 essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), making this the perfect supplement for maximum gains.

  • It is vital for increasing muscle mass
  • It helps prevent muscle mass loss due to ageing
  • It helps in regulating blood sugar levels
  • It aids in weight loss, helping you to reach your goals quicker
How much protein do I need daily?

There is no ‘one size fits all’ answer for this! Everyone is different when it comes to protein intake, and this depends on your body weight, your training goals, and training frequency/intensity.

For those training with the goal of gaining lean muscle mass, the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) recommends consuming between 1.4g to 2g protein per kilogram of bodyweight. Please be advised that this amount is recommended for a healthy individual with no health issues. Please confirm with your doctor before starting a high-protein diet.

What is Pre-Workout and what does it do?

Pre-Workout is a supplement that comes in the form of a powder that is taken before a workout to help increase your energy, power and endurance during your workout. Pre-Workout gives you the ability to train harder, for longer, and ultimately helps you maximise your training sessions.

I noticed Impact Supplements has two different Pre-Workout supplements available. What is the difference?

Our Pre-Workout range consists of two types of pre-workout: Riot (a high-stimulant formula) and SwoleAF (our stimulant-free formula).

Riot being a high-stimulant Pre-Workout supplement, contains caffeine that gives you an intense energy boost, whereas SwoleAF contains no caffeine, so you can maximise your training session without getting the jitters that a regular pre-workout gives.

Why is Impact Supplements Pre-Workout range best for me?

Our pre-workout range contains a mix of scientifically-proven ingredients that increase energy, blood-flow, vasodilation, muscular endurance, and reduce muscle fatigue. Clickhereto check our full ingredient glossary.

What are fat burners and what are the benefits of taking them?

Fat Burners are supplements intended for those who wish to lose some body fat. They offer extra support in helping you lose excess body fat when taken in conjunction with a good workout regime and balanced diet.

How do I take Creatine and when is the best time to take it?

The best time to take Creatine is about 30 minutes prior to your training session as it optimises your creatine stores before a session, allowing you to train harder without fatiguing. Creatine can also be taken again after a gym session as it increases muscle mass when combined with resistance training.

You can take Creatine alone, or combine it with your pre-workout to maximise performance in the gym. Creatine needs to be taken consistently for the best results, and you’ll start noticing a difference within 2-4 weeks of taking it.

What are amino acids and what do they do?

Amino Acids are essentially the building blocks of protein, and they play a vital role in building proteins, hormones, and neurotransmitters. Benefits include muscle growth and repair, improved endurance, reduced fatigue, enhanced immune function, and better absorption of protein.

Our bodies require 20 amino acids to function in an effective way, however only 9 of these are considered essential. They include: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.

Essential amino acids cannot be produced by the human body, therefore we need to obtain them through diet. The best source of essential amino acids is through animal proteins, such as meat, poultry, and eggs.

What is the difference between BCAAs and EAAs?

EEAs are the 9 essential amino acids, and within these includes 3 BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) which are branched-chain amino acids. All BCAAs are EAAs, but not all EAAs are BCAAs.The difference? BCAAs have slightly different molecular structure, causing BCAAs to break down in the muscles rather than the liver (where the EAAs are broken down).
